- Abstract
In this paper, the basic requirements for the suitability of the amplitude definitions of strong ground motion for engineering purpose are presented and brief comments on the definitions of amplitude of strong ground motion now widely used are given accordingly. The effects of different definitions of amplitude of strong ground motions on different structural response indexes of SDOF systems are discussed by dynamic time-history analysis.
