- Abstract
The two contrast research methods-empiricism and rationalism-are the most compelling among many arguments in architecture.However,such a definite contrariety cannot be found in Kevin Lynch's study of Urban Image.By an Analysis on the research methods of Kevin Lynch-including his psychological and phenomenological research methods,as well as his psychological and anthropologic references-this paper tries to prove that the research of Architecture may be an organic whole of positivism and dialectic,of quantitative and qualitative analysis,and of Myth and Science.The methodology of architecture does not reject poetry,nor does the Architecture.
