  • Abstract
Trichloroethylene(TCE) solvent used in the asphalt extraction and recovery procedure will do severe harm to human health and environment. It's essential to choose a new solvent-replacement.In this study,a series of solubility, extraction and recovery tests were carried out to compare the effects of new solvent DBE and TCE.It is indicated that the difference in asphalt solubility between two solvents was only 1.0%,and the variation of extracted asphalt content was within 0.3%.Compared with TCE,the penetration of asphalt recovered by new solvent was bigger and the softening point, ductility and viscosity had no evident distinction. The results show that DBE solvent has enough capabilities in asphalt solubility, extraction and less influence on the asphalt recovery. Therefore,it can be a reliable replacement for TCE solvent.
